Brief: To provide a series of Flash animations using 2-D and 3-D animation to demonstrate the different principles of flood management.

The Environment Agency wanted to use Flash animations to make physical flood risk management principles clear and easy to understand for an audience of the general public.

BigStream researched and originated all the digital assets for the animations from scratch. Some animations reflect two or three “phases” of an event with the ability to “toggle” between them (eg before and after flooding) whilst others were a single uninterrupted illustration of the change, eg sea level rising.

The initial specification was very loose and this meant the animations went through a number of iterations over the course of the project which was characterised by a positive and productive working relationship with the client.
